People will vaguely mention that being pregnant can have its ups and downs. The obvious up is that you will soon be having a baby. Some of the not so obvious downs are an aching body, aversion to food, and emotions that go from one extreme to another. There are a few tricks that can help you overcome each of these common pregnancy problems.

Make it Stop Hurting
Pregnancies are like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike. Each person will have different aches and pains but there are a few that are more common than others. Pain in the lower back is one of the most common pregnancy complaints. One of the easiest ways to alleviate lower back pain is to find a comfortable way to lie down. An absolute essential product in your pregnancy survival gear should be two body pillows. Place a body pillow on either side of you and a regular pillow under your head. Roll onto whichever side is most comfortable for you placing your tummy on top of the upper portion of the pillow and wrapping your legs around the lower portion of the pillow. Use the pillow at your back to support your back. This will help alleviate pressure and reduce pain.

I Need to Eat for Two
There are many stories out there of women who want to eat everything in sight while they are pregnant. What is lacking in the pregnancy stories is the other side of the story. Often, foods that were once favorites now induce nausea. When everything you think about eating makes you want to skip eating till the baby is born try to find something sour. Lemon candies, lemons, and lightly sweetened lemonade are all great things to try immediately. If that doesn’t work consider sour candies, pickles, or any other sour food that you can think of. Usually, if you start with something sour you will be able to eat at least a small portion of something more nutritionally dense.

Emotional Roller Coaster
Being on an emotional roller coaster is one of the more discussed aspects of pregnancy, however, little information is given about how to even out the ride. This is because there really isn’t anything one can do to keep emotions in check. The best you can hope for is to find a surefire way to distract yourself back into a better mood. Two things to keep on hand are an Ipod with an upbeat play list and a favorite childhood book to bring back happy memories.
