Pregnancy can be a very trying time for the soon to be mother. There are people from all sides telling them what they can or cannot do. There is so much information and so many people inundating them with questions and advice that it is surprising that pregnant women simply do not go into hiding.

It is better that the woman does not go into hiding though, but rather continues her job and her lifestyle unimpeded by the life that is growing within unless that lifestyle is dangerous or unhealthy.

Women who give up a job or a lifestyle for pregnancy often suffer several health and psychological problems. The human body relies on movement to help the body circulate fluids and blood. If the woman is no longer working, then she is no longer forcing herself to get up and move on a regular basis. This can cause medical concerns such as toxemia and lymphoma. These are both painful conditions that can endanger the life of both the baby and the mother.

Women who give up their social lives for the pregnancy often suffer from depression and a lack of physical activity. This can lead to serious health complications much like those women who give up work. The depression though can become over bearing when and if the baby blues sets in.

There are ways to keep working and socializing through pregnancy. Work can be continued while watching the amount that is lifted. There are often weight restrictions as to what the woman can lift, and these should be followed. However, office jobs or other jobs that do not have a lot of lifting can be continued and a healthier body can be discovered.

Social events can take place in areas that are smoke free and healthy. Social events are important to women in all cultures and of all ages. The discontinuing of these events is bad for everyone, and so finding events that everyone can participate in should be important to all those in the social circle.
