Philosopher and Mentor Ben Affleck?
It’s that time of year again. High School graduation. It’s a time when the ending of one chapter gives way to the beginning of another chapter in the lives of young people. And Ben Affleck made one class’ graduation extra special.
This past Friday, the Good Will Hunting actor attended the Falls Church High School commencement ceremony in Washington DC. It was to fulfill the request of a terminally ill student.
Joe Kindregan, who suffers from the rare disease ataxiatelangiectasia, asked the Make A Wish foundation to make his wish of meeting Ben Affleck and having him speak at graduation come true. And they did.
The 34-year-old actor lent his words of wisdom to the class of 07, and it was everything Kindregan could hope for. Affleck told the class, “I haven’t been in space, I’m not a politician, I’m not a superhero, I’m not even a gangster.”
“What others say about you means nothing. What you say about you means everything. Your job is to make other people see you as you are.”
