The skin on our bodies naturally dies and sheds over time. The skin on our face, tends to hold on to dead skin longer than the rest of the body. This is due to the fact that there is no clothing in close contact with the face on a regular basis to help remove the dead skin. Facial skin exfoliation is our line of defense against dead skin build up on the face. But, many exfoliants contain chemicals that dry the skin and cause skin irritation. Natural products are just as effective and contain no chemical to harm the facial skin.

Natural products that can be used to exfoliate dry skin include, sea salt, ground oatmeal, wheat germ and yogurt. Each of these products offers a little different result, but all exfoliate naturally and effectively.

Sea salt, ground oatmeal and wheat germ all are fantastic natural exfoliants when mixed with a little water and used as a morning facial scrub. Sea salt, is the strongest of these exfoliants and tends to close pores quickly.

Yogurt, on the other hand, can be used straight out of the container. It is best to purchase a yogurt that is unflavored. If you are worried about the yogurt being too cold right out of the refrigerator, leave out for 5 minutes before exfoliating the skin. Yogurt can be placed on the skin like a cold cream and left in place for 5 minutes. After this time, simply rinse the face and blot dry.

Nature offers many natural products to clean and exfoliate the skin. Sea salt, ground oatmeal, wheat germ and yogurt are 4 of the best and contain no chemicals to dry or irritate the skin. Exfoliating the skin is a weekly process and should be completed no more than once every 5-7 days.
