The Importance of Skin Care

Good skin care is a lifelong commitment consisting of good internal nutrition and hydration. The skin is the largest organ in the body, and serves as the protection and barrier for all the other organs. Yet, we tend to forget that its appearance is only a very small part of the function.

Caring for the skin begins with internal care. Your body needs the right cellular building blocks in order to grow and stay healthy. The same thing is true of the cellular components which make up the skin. You should drink plenty of water, which keeps the cells hydrated, but also make sure you eat a balanced and healthy diet consisting of whole grains, nuts, fruits, vegetables and protein.

Daily cleansing with water from the time of childhood is important in the health of your skin. Products which gently clean the cells and remove the dead cells from the surface of the skin keeps your skin healthy and glowing.

Use cleansing products which are directed to your own skin type. Skin type can range from oily to overly dry, or can include combinations of various types of skin. You need to balance the requirements for your skin so that further damage will not be done during the cleansing process.

It's also important when cleansing or removing makeup that you should remember the effects of gravity. Any movement which pulls your skin down rather than up increased the lifelong effects of gravity.

Further protection of your skin should be a part of your daily life. Don't go into the sun without the use of a safe and effect sun block product. Wearing a hat or cover-up to protect sensitive areas such as the lips, nose, tips of the ears or eyelids will help you prevent burning and skin damage in those areas.
