Before you begin looking into your next diet scheme, you will may want to reconsider due to the possibility of wrinkles. Yes—wrinkles! Yo-yo dieting, or dieting that takes you on and off a lot of different diet plans in a short amount of time, can actually damage your skin. This is because dieting messes with the elasticity of skin—the component that will give you a firm, youthful tone.
For light dieters looking only to lose about five pounds, dieting causing wrinkles will not be an issue. But those who are looking to lose a significant amount of weight will want to look at the rapidness of their dieting and see how the stretching of the skin over and over with constant weight loss and gain is actually affecting your skin.

So what can you do if you have already created wrinkles from dieting, or want to prevent them the next time you diet? Most experts in diet will agree that you will want to only lose about a pound a week so the skin has time to adjust itself. You will also want to avoid binge eating that could lead to rapid weight gain.
Wrinkles can also be prevented through your diet and nutrition.

Just like any other organ that needs taken care of with the proper diet; your skin will need good nutrition in order to maintain function as well as getting it to look its best. The vitamins that skin needs the most of are vitamin B, vitamin C, and vitamin E. All of these help the skin to protect itself from sun damage and reduce damage from free radicals. Vitamin A is another helpful vitamin that will maintain and repair the skin tissue.

In order to take care of your skin with your diet, you will want to eat a full balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Five to seven servings of these are recommended each day. Particularly helpful are carrots, tomatoes, and green leafy vegetables.

And the older to you, the more important it is to get the right amount of water. As the skin ages, it gets thinner and drier, so you will want to stay hydrated with six to eight glasses of water each day in order to keep your skin looking its best. Diet is one of the most important ways a person can avoid wrinkles, so this should be your first line a defense before creams, injections, or surgery.
