When it comes to beauty, the inner beauty we feel for ourselves is often more important than any external beauty treatments. No new hair style, makeup or skin cream can make up for negative beauty images we feel about ourselves. Once our inner beauty shines bright, the external portions of our beauty will follow suit.
In order to make the most of our inner beauty, we first must release any self esteem issues we may be feeling. Self esteem is the representation we have of ourselves on a daily basis. If we feel we are unattractive, we will come across as BEING unattractive. Measuring ourselves on the beauty of others and putting ourselves down for our own short comings are the worst two choices we can make on a daily basis.
The best method to achieve inner beauty is to release the need for defining that beauty. The size of our waists, the width of our noses and the number of large pores on our faces need not be the focus of our beauty gauges. Instead, the beauty we feel about ourselves should be focused more on the people we are, the decisions we make every day and the happiness we feel about our lives.
Once we begin to focus more on the people we are as opposed to how we rate on a scale of 1 – 10 based on societal definitions of beauty, we will begin to shine from within. Even the most externally beautiful person is ugly if they have a terrible attitude about life and appear generally unhappy with themselves on a daily basis. Next time you look in the mirror, notice something good about your face, the next time you exercise give yourself a compliment and the next time you decide to rate yourself, make that rating based upon life choices and not societal beauty.

| Margie | 06-22-2009 | | I am having a terrible time with self-esteem since I retired. I know I have had some health issues, and am certainly not as young as I once was. Also, I have gained weight.
I know, also, that God looks on the inward person, and not how we look outwardly. I am going to wake up in the morning and begin with my "new" stride. You can, too, Briela!!! |
| Briela | 06-01-2009 | | Wow, It was so totally what I need to hear. Its hard looking at yourself with beauty when the world is telling you otherwise. But God made me the way I am and I have to accept myself, and of course, learn to love who I am. If only us teens were told that so much more! |
